Tax Rebate Program
The Mayor and Board of Trustees continue to sustain their fiscal responsibility and have been able to provide the residents yearly Property Tax Rebates since 2005 under the Illinois Fiscal Responsibility Act. The tax rebate program is only made available when excess reserve funds are available. Mettawa residents be sure to have homesteaded status checked when you purchase your property, that is the first requirement to this program.
2024 Qualifications
Qualifying homestead residents must have lived in their home starting January 1, 2022 through the release of the tax rebate application in July of 2024. Any resident with an open balance resulting from a violation will be ineligible until the balance is resolved.
The submission for the 2022 Tax Year rebate begins July 12th through October 4th.
All applications are due and must be postmarked by Friday, October 4, 2024 to qualify. Any tax rebate question should be directed emailed to our Village Treasurer, Amy Weiland at [email protected].
Please allow 10 business days from when you have mailed your application before contacting the Village Treasurer. She will email you once your application has been received and deemed qualified.
